For those who are planning on heading to the Mie Prefecture of Japan for a golf holiday, you must include a round of golf at Sakakibara Onsen Golf Club. Established in 1994, Sakakibara Onsen Golf Club is an 18 hole, par-72 golf course designed by Greg Norman. Over the years it has played host to several top tournaments including the Sanko Mid Ladies Golf Tournament, Professional Baseball OB Golf Championship and the PGA Senior Tour.
Situated at the foot of a mountain, Sakakibara Onsen Golf Club is a beautiful place to enjoy a round of golf but expect to be challenged throughout the 18 holes. Fairways feature natural undulations plus many large bunkers and several water hazards. The course plays to 6,844 yards from the back tee, which is not particularly long but there are 3 other tee positions from which to choose.
The first hole at Sakakibara Onsen Golf Club is a gentle introduction to the course but the par-4 green is protected by a large bunker on the left plus an out of bounds area. Water first comes into play on the par-3 3rd hole the players have a choice as to whether they try to hit the ball over the water or play safe by aiming left.
There are many decisions like that found on the 3rd hole to be made during a round at Sakakibara Onsen Golf Club and it is strategy which makes it such an exciting place to play golf. In addition to the 18 hole golf course you will find a full range of facilities including locker rooms, tea lounge, pro shop, hot springs and restaurant.
