Opened in 1975, the Shunsuke Kato designed Karuizawa Golf course lies 1300 metres above sea level.

The club enjoys two beautiful golf courses spread out across 2.2 million square meters of prime Japanese countryside.

A superb clubhouse stands century to the courses and houses all that any member or visiting golfer may require. Spacious locker and shower rooms, a large bar with terrace and a superb restaurant serving local cuisine. A well-stocked pro-shop and good practice facilities along with 87 western-style rooms to accommodate guests complete the off-course facilities.

Asama, the first of the two 18-hole courses measures 6941-yards from the back tees. It plays considerably shorter than its yardage due to its location.

The course weaves its way through the mountain terrain and native woodland to create a wonderful secluded golf course. Perhaps slightly more demanding than the Shirakaba course, Asama is a good test of golf. Smartly positioned bunkers, large greens and water hazards enhance the design both strategically and aesthetically and provide enough of a distraction to keep the golfer on their toes.

Shirakaba is slightly shorter than its sister course, measuring 6531-yards. Similar in design to the Asama course Shirakaba takes advantage of its location perfectly. Requiring some very good course management to ensure a good score.

Both courses are presented in impeccable condition and the summer highs of around 30º Celsius make Karuizawa Golf the perfect place to play.

Kintetsu Kashikojima Country Club

Excellent championship course

An excellent championship course which is home to the annual Mizuno Open. The course is relatively straight and when I played the pin positions were quite generous although the greens were very fast. The carts have GPS navigation.
