Designed by Shozo Kosasa Matsusaka Golf Club enjoys, as many in the region, double greens. The courses measure 6787-yards and 6746-yards depending on the green of the day.

Regardless of which green you are playing the course is wonderfully strategic.

Kosasa has created a masterpiece on the slopes of Mount Fuefuku making the most of the hilly and wooded terrain.

The holes are all individually created, with as much respect being shown to the native terrain and the natural path in which the hole have been carved.

Glistening ponds add to the tranquillity of the design and continues the traditional Japanese feel to the course which sits so close to the historic Matsusaka city.

Rolling and at times heavily undulating fairways, narrow as they weave their way through the dense woodland, accuracy is key to success here. The greens are of average size and are always presented to the highest of standards.

Practice facilities are good, although not as large as some, but for warm-up purposes are more than sufficient. The short-game area offers a chipping green, practice bunker and a good-sized putting green all maintained to the same standard as the golf course.

The clubhouse is traditional and sits unimposingly within the natural setting, staff are very attentive, and the service is second to none.  Locker rooms, swimming pool, a well-stocked pro shop and a restaurant, serving local seasonal dishes complete the clubhouse facilities.

Matsusaka Country Club

An older course but still fun

Reviewed by ; on
One of the older courses in the area with quite narrow fairways and plenty of left and right doglegs. The finishing hole was particularly difficult. Excellent clubhouse with large locker room.
