Close to Ise City, in the Mie Prefecture of Japan, you will find Excellent Golf Club Ise Futami Course. This golf course opened for play in 1999 and has quickly risen up the ranks to become one of the best golf courses in this region of Japan.
The 18 hole par-72 golf course plays quite short by modern standards, reaching only 6,585 yards from the back tees. There are 3 additional tee positions to choose from on each hole but the short nature of the golf course does not mean you should underestimate Excellent Golf Club Ise Futami Course in terms of the challenge it provides.
The golf course was designed by Yoshiaki Kato and Ayako Okamoto and although you will see water throughout the road, it rarely comes into play unless you are wayward off the tee or on approach to the green. Many of the fairways are straight with little in the way of doglegs to negotiate but accuracy is key to a low score as many of the fairways are narrow and surrounded by rough and trees.
The fairways are undulating and the greens testing due to their size and the number of breaks which can become problematic when left with a long putt. The greens are also well protected by bunkers on each of the 18 holes so accurate approach play is required to avoid an awkward shot out of the sand.
The facilities at Excellent Golf Club Ise Futami Course include a chipping and putting practice area, restaurant, hot baths and conference room.
