Situated almost halfway between the cities of Kyoto and Nagoya you will find Chunichi Country Club. Close to the city of Suzuka, home to the famous Formula 1 racetrack and located in Mie Prefecture, this 27 hole golf course boasts a tremendous view of the magnificent Suzuka mountain range.

Chunichi Country Club is mostly flat throughout but the trees and forest which surround the golf course make for a strategic test for players of all abilities. As with many 27 hole golf courses, Chunichi Country Club has been divided into three sets of 9 holes which are called West Course, Middle Course and East Course.

The golf course was designed by Seizo Serizawa and Hirochika Serizawa and opened for play in 1979. This has given the golf course plenty of time to mature and become a very natural environment to enjoy a round of golf.

One of the most interesting features of Chunichi Country Club are the greens. There is a choice of at least two greens on every hole of the golf course and this opens a wealth of opportunities each time you play. For example, on the 1st hole of the East Course players are faced with a long and narrow fairway, which is set in a valley between trees on either side. As with all the holes at Chunichi Country Club, there is a choice of four tee boxes but having played the tee shot, players are faced for the decision in terms of the green.

The green on the right side plays a little longer than the green on the left side at both are protected by a bunker at the front. While difference in the distance to the green is minimal on some holes, such as the 1st hole of the East Course, it can make a big difference on other holes such as the 9th hole on the East Course. There is close to 30 yards difference between the two greens and therefore club choice will vary depending on which green you are playing.

The total yardage of the whole round will be determined by which greens you decide to play and it is best to make this decision prior to starting the round. Whichever greens you do not use in this round you can use next time to make the rounds unique. You can also combine 2 different sets of 9 holes to create a new round of golf which is what makes playing at Chunichi Country Club a great experience.

In addition to the 27 hole golf course at Chunichi Country Club you will find a clubhouse complete with practice area, locker rooms, pro shop and restaurant. The restaurant offers a breakfast menu, lunch menu and evening meal menu which differ throughout the day.

Chunichi Country Club

Old course but still in good shape

Reviewed by ; on
The facilities are old but the course is still in good condition - also pretty easy as generally flat and has few hazards. The East Course is quite short and a little narrow at times - the West Course is a little long, but the course is wide and straight.
