Palm Garden Golf Club

Palm Garden Golf Club is one of the few public golf courses in Kuala Lumpur so it can get very crowded, especially at weekends.  Also they advertise and allow 5 and 6 ball flights so if you get stuck behind one of those then you could be in for a long round.

The main 18 used for tournament is made up from the Putra course (holes 1 - 9) and the Palm course (10 - 18). The other 9 is the IOI course which is also quite challenging.

The opening hole on the Putra course is quite difficult thanks to the water running down the entire hole; trees are a factor on many holes meaning that positioning is everything. Even when the trees are not a factor, you are often faced with some challenging water carries, twice on the same hole in the case of the pretty 9th.

The Palm course is somewhat easier, with wider, more generous fairways bordered by light semi-rough that should not cause too many problems. But don’t underestimate this nine as there is plenty to catch you out. At the par-3 15th, the stone wall stretching in front of the green will send anything short back into the water that runs from tee to green.

There are some large elevation changes at Palm Garden Golf Club which are always good fun and present some scenic views, especially the 12th which is a 152 yard par-3 with such a big drop from tee to the green below that it is very easy to use too much club.

The IOI nine is probably the most difficult – short but very tight with water in play on the 1st and 9th and blind tee shots on the 3rd, 4th and 7th so there is plenty to keep you thinking.

All three courses are in excellent condition and the greens fast and true.

The clubhouse is very modern and there is an excellent restaurant and bar overlooking the 18th green.
