Pun Hlaing Golf Course

Pun Hlaing Golf Club offers an 18-hole, par 72 golf course, playing to a total of 7,012 yards from the championship tees.  The course was designed by nine-time major tournament winner, Gary Player and was opened in 2000.  The course is laid out on what were previously paddy fields and the meeting point of three different rivers, the Hlaing, Pun Hlaing and Yangon rivers.  There are great views of the rivers throughout the course, in addition to the Shwedagon Pagoda, which is a magnificent gilded stupa, located in Yangon.

Pun Hlaing Golf Club is often referred to as being the ‘Pride of Myanmar’ and has played host to a number of tournaments in the region, including the Myanmar Masters Tour in 2008 and 2009.  The course itself is suitable for golfers of all abilities and many of the fairways have water hazards next to them, such as rivers and lakes, which serve to keep everyone on their toes.  However, the fairways are generally wide and it will take some very wayward shots, to find your ball in trouble during a round.  Good scoring is certainly a possibility on this course.

The fairways are well maintained and the greens are quick.  The course management do a great job, considering the amount of maintenance required to keep it in good shape during the rainy season.  

The clubhouse and facilities are also top-notch, with the Oasis Spa offering eight different treatment rooms and private lagoons, for the ultimate in relaxation, after a great round of golf.  The Horizon Bar and Restaurant overlooks the 18th green and enjoys a relaxed and casual atmosphere, with a mix of Southeast Asian and Western dishes, making it the perfect place to refuel and discuss the day’s golfing action.
