Tiara Malaka Golf and Country Club is ranked 14th in the Top 100 Golf Courses of Malaysia and it is not hard to see why it is so highly regarded.   The clubhouse is not as modern as some courses in the area but it more than adequate for the needs of visiting golfers.

Designed by Nelson and Wright the complex boasts 27 holes of varying difficulty and design, making this the perfect destination for golfers of all ability levels.

Located in the Ayer Keroh region, just outside Malacca and about 1 and a half hours from the capital of Kuala Lumpur, this tourist destination has a lot to offer.

The course was built upon an old rubber plantation and former mine and the design takes advantage of the lakes that remained from the tin mines. Many of the mature trees were also incorporated into the design creating unique hazards and maintaining just a little bit of history from the area.

In 1994 The Lake course was first to open, with the remaining two loops of 9 added a short while later. Firstly, the Meadow course and finally the Woodland loop were unveiled.

Even though the course is laid out amongst the housing development of the resort the houses do not interfere with play which gives the course a natural and peaceful atmosphere.

The Lakes course as the name implies uses many water hazards to create danger for the golfer whilst giving form and shape to the holes. The water is predominantly in play on the final three holes; a par three over a lake, a par 4 requiring a long drive to carry the lake which then runs the length of the hole and finally the 9th a short par five with water in play for each shot. Although The Lakes course is considered as the less challenging of the three loops the test is sufficient enough.

For championship golf it is The Meadow and The Woodland loops that combine to give a true test of golfing prowess.

The Meadow course is more open, although the narrow landing areas and inclusion of lakes make for a stern test of golf. The holes are generally bordered by Chinese Palm trees with Meadow like grasses below which create a tough place from which to play.

Much like the Lakes course the finish to The Meadows course is daunting at best. The 8th hole is tough and calls for bravery, length and accuracy all at the same time. From the tee you need to hit a long drive, to carry the large lake that splits the hole in two, and place to perfectly to leave a view of the green. While the 9th requires a carry over water from the tee and an accurate approach to a green protected by water right.

The final loop of 9 is The Woodland course, heavily wooded the Woodland course is the prettier of the three, with flowering trees and shrubs dotted between the large, mature trees that border the fairways creating an almost jungle like feel to the course.

A fairly decent golf course.

Changing room facilities are old and needs upgrading. A large troop of monkeys at one of the hole at Lake course. We have to stay with the buggy to prevent them from swarming all over the buggy. Some of the bunkers are flooded which indicate choke. Some nice and picturesque holes. Buggy was relatively new. Quite a challenging course. Fairways were decent. Greens average. Number of bunkers flooded which indicate major choked drainage. A fairly decent golf course.
