Occasionally when playing golf in Japan you are spoiled by having the option of two 18 hole golf courses available at the same golf club. This applies to Prestige Country Club, which is home to not one but two excellent 18 hole golf courses.

The Golf Club opened in 1988 and is situated just 10 minutes away from the Tochigi Interchange. This makes travel to the golf club easy, regardless of whether you are staying in the local area or a city such as in Tokyo. All 36 holes were designed by American company, Benz and Paulette and they have been split into two golf courses named the East Course and West Course.

The East course is the shorter of the two golf courses at Prestige Country Club but still plays to 7,097 yards from the back tee. However, the West Course is longer, playing to 7,214 yards from the back tee. There are four tee boxes available on each hole which can change the playing distance considerably depending on the handicap of each player.

Several domestic professional tournaments have been held at Prestige Country Club and both courses provide a good test of ability. There are several water hazards throughout the 36 holes and large bunkers flank the fairways. Look out for the island green on the West course which is a highlight of the round.

The clubhouse features locker rooms, a restaurant and public baths plus there is access to short driving range which is ideal for perfecting approach shots prior to starting a round.

Prestige Country Club

Convenient but crowded

The course was quite short and the fairways forgiving but I had a real problem with the greens which were all extremely fast, particularly if you get above the hole.
