Pete Dye Golf Club Royal Course is a European-style designed by Pete Dye.  The course has quite wide fairways and fairly gentle elevation changes.  The pick of the holes on the front nine include the par-3 second with a large pond to the left of the green and the eighth, which is the other par-3, which features an island green.  On the inward nine, it is again the par-3s that you will remember and these include the twelfth hole, which although not quite an island green, is almost completely surrounded by water. 

Pete Dye Is one of the leading golf course designers in the world and has several golf courses available to play in Japan. One of which is the Pete Dye Golf Club VIP Course and this is located in Katakura, Imaichi-shi, Tochigi. It takes just over an hour to reach the golf course from central Tokyo, making Pete Dye Golf Club VIP Course ideal as a day trip from the Japanese capital should you be staying there.

The 18 hole par-72 golf course opened in 1990 and plays to just over 7,000 yards from the championship tees. There are three other tee positions to choose from on each hole making Pete Dye Golf Club VIP Course suitable for players of all abilities. The layout of the course is interesting in that it begins with a par-5 hole which is followed by three par-4 holes.

Occasionally when playing golf in Japan you are spoiled by having the option of two 18 hole golf courses available at the same golf club. This applies to Prestige Country Club, which is home to not one but two excellent 18 hole golf courses.

The Golf Club opened in 1988 and is situated just 10 minutes away from the Tochigi Interchange. This makes travel to the golf club easy, regardless of whether you are staying in the local area or a city such as in Tokyo. All 36 holes were designed by American company, Benz and Paulette and they have been split into two golf courses named the East Course and West Course.

Sun Hills Country Club is a Robert Trent Jones Jr creation which opened in 1991 and is set in the rolling hills near Utsunomiya City and consists of 36 holes. On the West Course, the front nine is generally flat and the inward nine has many more elevation changes.  Memorable holes include the par-3 fourth, where you tee off downhill over a pond, and the tenth which is a dog leg par-4 with a narrow landing area.  The East Course is a more strategic layout with narrower fairways lined with trees.   

Designed by Eiichi Motohashi, under supervision by Desmond Muirhead, the 7017-yard par 72 Sano-Hillcrest Golf course is a gem in the Taiheiyo Club portfolio.

The course takes advantage of its location perfectly, creating a splendid mix of hole styles.

Enjoying the landscape as it does, the course weaves between native trees, the undulating terrain and water hazards that keeps the golfer waiting to find out what hole is coming next.

Wide fairways, that are lush and gently undulating for the most part, are often protected by decorative bunkers, which provide more than just aesthetic meaning.
