Manila is the capital city of the Philippines, a country which is an archipelagic in Southeast Asia.  Situated in the tropics, Manila has a tropical savannah climate meaning there is very little in the way of variation in the weather throughout the year.

The coolest month in Manila is January while the warmest is May yet there is only 4 degrees difference in the temperature.  The only thing you will need to look our for the is the wet and dry season, with the former taking place between May and November and the latter between the months of December and April.

So, if you were to choose a time to visit Manila and play a round of golf at Riviera Golf Club, the months between December and April would be the best but this is a golf course which is in great condition throughout the year.

As with many of the golf clubs in Manila and the surrounding area, Riviera Golf Club is home to two 18-hole championship golf courses.  These have been designed by two greats of the game and you will have the opportunity to play on courses designed by Fred Couples and Bernhard Langer.

The Bernhard Langer Course is considered by many to be one of the toughest golf courses in the Philippines.  The par-71 course plays to 7,057 yards and is a links style course created on the hills of Silang Cavite.  Thanks to the excellent drainage, you can enjoy a round of golf on the Bernhard Langer Course following heavy rain, which is not always the case in Southeast Asia.

Interestingly, you will not find any water on the Bernhard Langer Course and the hazards are in the form of bunkers and the changes in elevation, especially on the greens.

Moving on to the Fred Couples Course and this offers a different challenge to the previous course thanks to a more parkland style layout.  Water does come into play on this course although it is nothing major when compared to other top courses in southeast Asia.  Large bunkers and rolling fairways are the main features of the Fred Couples Course, which is a par-72 and plays to 7,102 yards.

Both golf courses at Riviera Golf Club give players the chance to score low.  There are birdie opportunities on several holes when approached with the correct strategy and this makes Riviera Golf Club exciting for experienced and beginner golfers alike.

The clubhouse has many facilities available to golfers including locker rooms, pro shop, dining area and practice range.

You will find both the Bernhard Langer and Fred Couples courses a delight to play and Riviera Golf Club comes highly recommended when playing golf in Manila.

Fifteen years ago, one of the most stunning courses in Southeast Asia. And a lot of work has been made to improve and keep it green and exciting, up to par. It's worth trying.

Good golf course in the vicinity of Manila. About 1 hour away from Manila. Golf course itself is very lovely and good treatment. Faster green than any other golf course.
