Mimosa Golf and Country Club, is located in the shadow of Mount Pinatubo, on part of the ex-American Clark Air Base.  Close to the city of Angeles, in the Pampanga region of the Philippines, Mimosa Golf and Country Club is very accessible from the country’s capital city, Manila.  This provides the option of either staying in Angeles and making the short journey to the golf course, staying in Manila and making the 90 minute drive up the North Expressway or staying in one of the 125 luxurious villas, within the resort itself.

Situated in the foothills of Mount Pinatubo, Mimosa Golf and Country Club takes advantage of the natural landscape, which was formed following a volcanic eruption.  The gently rolling, parkland style course, was designed by Robin Nelson, in 1994, who having removed much of the ash from the previous, 18-hole golf course, added a further nine holes, to make 27 in total.  The final nine holes were added shortly after, to complete the course which is there today.

As the name of the golf club suggests, Mimosa trees, which are also known as rain trees, are in abundance throughout the golf course.  These form many of the new fairways and there are literally thousands of them framing the course.

There are two distinct golf courses to play at Mimosa Golf and Country Club.  The Mountain Course, which plays at a par of 72 and has an overall length of 6,782 yards and the Acacia and Lakes Course, which plays to 6,546 yards and is also a par-72.

The fairways are generally quite forgiving and the well-manicured greens run true.  The course has been designed to allow golfers, of all abilities, to enjoy a good round but also remain testing for the seasoned golfer, by playing off the championship tees.  Perhaps the pick of the holes, the par-4 7th hole on the Mountain Course, features a shot over a volcanic ash creek, to reach the fairway.

In addition to two golf courses, Mimosa Golf and Country Club boast a club house, with lockers, steam rooms, a sauna and whirlpool.  There is also a restaurant, tee houses, pro-shop, driving range and putting green, in addition to the CCA Golf Academy.  To make the most of playing at Mimosa Golf and Country Club, why not stay in one the villas?  They are fully air conditioned, with complimentary tea and coffee and daily housekeeping services.

With 36 holes to play, the Mimosa Golf and Country Club makes a great place to stay and enjoy a weekend of golfing action.

Better than expected

Reviewed by ; on
I had read some pretty bad reviews about the condition of this course. I last played it over 20 years ago. This time around we played both courses and I thoroughly enjoyed both of them. Mountainview is longer and more challenging but has a much better and challenging layout. Acacia is more of a resort course and is the busier of the two. We played Mountainview in 3 hours on a Friday morning... nobody in front of us. It took us a little over 4 at Acacia on Saturday morning and it felt like we were waiting on every hole so the pace here is pretty good. Facilities are good although service at the clubhouse restaurant could use some improvement. Had a great experience with very knowledgeable and fun caddies.

Great golf experience!

We had the opportunity to play both Mimosa Courses... Mountainview and Acacia. Acacia is busier and is more of a "resort" course. Much easier with less hazards. Mountainview for me was a much better track. More challenging and a nicer course layout. It is also less busy and we finished the round in a little over 3 hours.

The course was great. Layout was interesting albeit a bit short on white tee. Green speed was a tad slow .

Everything was great except that the course did not respect the tee times allocated. Our tee time was 1306 and we arrived at the tee box at 1250 and to our horror, there were 6 flights on queue and flights were let go on a first-come, first-served basis. As a result, we teed off at 1340 and could not finish the 18 holes due to sunset at 1730. To be improved.

Two beautiful courses that need some attention.

Reviewed by ; on
Our threesome played both the Aciacia and mountain courses. One back to back days. The area is beautiful and only a 20 min drive from most of the downtown hotel of Angeles city. It looks like the course is putting in some money to upgrade the facilities, including a new driving range. The club house is nice and no money is required to get supplies while on the course, making play very convenient. Our caddies were excellent! Renato, Jessica and Renie were a joy to golf with. Distance, club selection and shot placement were well advised and showed they knew the course. Fairways and greens need work, with many bare spots along the length of the fairway. Most of the greens need work, with bare spots and damage. The greens had been aerated about 10 days before we played so trying to get a clean straight role was almost impossible. But, that is part of golf. We didn’t check before booking, so that is on us. The staff, from time of check-in until we left was friendly and professional. The staff in the clubhouse restaurant was happy to see us and we had a great time eating, drinking and visiting with the on both days. The course was forgiving, wide and challenging, with the Mountain course being our choice for a return trip.
