Located in the Clark Sacobia Valley region of the Philippines, is Fontana and Apollon Korea Country Club.  The golf club was established in 2008 and located inside the Clark Airbase.  Travelling from the Philippine capital city of Manila, which is where the majority of international flights will arrive, the Fontana and Apollon Korea Country Club is very easy to reach.  Simply take the North Expressway out of Manila and exit Dau, turning left until the Clark Airbase is in sight.  The entrance to the golf club is on the right side.

As the name suggests, Fontana and Apollon Korea Country Club has been created by Korean designers and is one of the most highly rated gold clubs in this region of the Philippines.  There is a choice, of two 18-hole championship golf courses to play, both of which are very well maintained.  The location is fantastic and both golf courses are surrounded by hills covered in lush bushes and trees.  Each course is par-72 and there is a choice options off the tee, including Red, White, Blue and Black.  The black offer the greatest yardage, which is over 7,000 on both sets of 18 holes.

Official tournaments are held at Fontana and Apollon Korea Country Club every year and they also host international invitational tournaments.  For much of the round, water does not seem to play much a part.  However, the 9th hole forces players to hit an approach shot over a lake but this is nothing compared to what lies in wait on the 16th.

The 16th hole is the signature hole and it really impresses.  With water surrounding the entire hole, that’s both fairway and green, the 16th has been designed in the shape of Jeju Island, which is in Korea.  Accuracy, as opposed to distance is the key on this hole, as there is little room for error, when trying to find the fairway and the green.  The 18th hole also features water, which is present down the right side of the fairway.  This hole also has its origins in Korea, as it is designed in the shape of the Korean national flag.  The green is hidden from view on the tee shot.

Fontana and Apollon Korea Country Club also features a par-28, nine-hole pitch and putt course, designed by Graham Marsh, which is very well maintained.

With a club house, restaurant and pro-shop, this is one golf course which should not be missed during a trip to the Philippines.

FA Korea Golf Country Club

Overall nice scenery and challenging course

Reviewed by ; on
Golf course was in good condition with well kept greens and fairways. Sand bunkers were coarse. Caddies do not have the habit of repairing divots and pitch marks. Overall nice scenery and challenging course depending on the tee selection. Decent Golf course but marred by very dated changing room facilities. Buggies were also in poor condition; rickety and bad brakes - quite dangerous for a hilly course.

Beautiful course that is well maintained.

Reviewed by ; on
Our group had three caddies. All three knew the course well and picked up our club selection quickly. Their knowledge of the course and distances were spot on. Pace of play was good, with only short back ups on the par 3 holes. Tee boxes and fairways were ell maintained and the greens were fast. Out only complaint was the number of un-repaired divots. We each fixed 4-5 per hole. The course plays long from the blues and is narrow with OB and hazards on each side. Hit it straight and you can put for par on each hole. The club house facilities were underwhelming. And water to drink on the course was scarce. Bring several bottles with you and pick up a couple frozen bottles before you head out. Our group will be back in September
