Myanmar Golf Tour (Yangon- Bagan-Mandalay)

7 Nights / 3 Rounds
Shwedagon Pagoda Bagan Temples Bagan Golf Club Mandalay Hill Pun Hliang Golf

Although no longer the official capital city, Yangon is still the main hub of Myanmar which has retained its colonial style and there are several top-class golf courses and a multitude of other tourist sites within easy reach of the city.  It started life as a fishing village close to the Shwedagon Pagoda, but it has now developed into a fascinating place with a rich and varied history.

Pun Hlaing Golf Club is often referred to as being the ‘Pride of Myanmar’ and has played host to a number of tournaments in the region, including the Myanmar Masters Tour in 2008 and 2009.  The course itself is suitable for golfers of all abilities and many of the fairways have water hazards next to them, such as rivers and lakes, which serve to keep everyone on their toes.

The temples of Bagan are one of Myanmar’s main attractions. Once the capital of this ancient kingdom, Bagan covers an amazing 26-sq-mile area bordered on two sides by The Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) River.    Bagan is littered with temples and although many of them were damaged in a recent earthquake, work is underway to repair the more than 400 temples that were damaged.

You will get to see many of the temples first hand when you play golf at Bagan Golf Club, with fairways that meander between the temples – a unique golfing experience

Mandalay was totally flattened during WWII and the ongoing construction boom has been haphazard with little regard to aesthetics.  Mandalay Hill, which dominates the city, has remained largely intact and its slopes are still covered with pagodas. Despite all this Mandalay remains a charming place with some great markets, mosques and various other religious temples and numerous golf shops.
