Luang Prabang is one of the most magical destinations in Asia and although it dies not immediately spring to mind when planning a golf holiday, it does boast one excellent golf course.
Luang Prabang is the former capital of Luang Prabang Province in northern Laos and is located at the junction of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. It is a Unesco World Heritage site and is known for its many Buddhist temples, saffron-clad monks, ancient Indochinese villas and exquisite French-inspired cuisine.
Although Luang Prabang has seen a flood of investment over the past twenty years it still retains its “villagy” feeling and the friendly locals are as helpful as always.
The championship golf course is set to the superb backdrop of the Mekong River and has an abundance of stunning mountain views and vistas. Designers and constructors of Luang Prabang were determined to ensure that they maintained an eco-friendly policy when constructing the golf course and the way that they have gone about maintaining the natural contouring and native flora and fauna add to the experience.
