Nakaizu Green Club golf course is located in Izu, Japan.  This is part of the Shizuoka Prefecture in the south east of the main island, Honshu.  For those entering Japan for a golf holiday, the easiest way to reach the course is to fly to either Yokohama or Tokyo, depending on which flights are available.

If you land in Tokyo, it is under 3 hours to reach Nakaizu Green Club by car and you can stay in the Hakone region, with fantastic views of Mount Fuji.

Nakaizu Green Club was established in 1990 and has had plenty of time to mature into a top Japanese golf course.  The 18-hole, par-72 golf course was designed by Asani and is set among trees which frame many of the holes.  You can also enjoy lovely views of Mount Fuji from various locations on the course and it is difficult to resist taking photos as you play.

The 1st hole is a great example of what to expect at Nakaizu Green Club and it is a 387-yard par-4 from the back tees but there are three tee boxes available on each hole.  With Mount Fuji looming in the distance, you play downhill from the tee, into a small valley, where a large green awaits, protected on the left by two bunkers.  Trees provide the backdrop to the green and it is a nice way to start the round.

The 2nd hold is the first par-3 of the Nakaizu Green Club course and this time you are required to play uphill to the green.  The putting surface is protected by four bunkers and it is one of the toughest on the course.

The 4th hole is the longest on the golf course and plays to 627 yards from the back tee.  The par-5 dog-legs to the left and most players will require two shots to negotiate their way to the green.  However, the fairway is wide on this hole and it feels great to unleash the driver from the tee.  Once again, the back of the green is surrounded by trees and there are bunkers on both sides.

Water comes into play at Nakaizu Green Club for the first time on the 8th hole.  This is a par-4 and there is a pond located 80 yards in-front of the green.  Selecting the correct club on the tee to avoid the pond is the key on this hole.

Water is also featured on the 13th and 15th holes but is not a major factor on this golf course.

The facilities at Nakaizu Green Club include a Tomio Sugisaka designed traditional wooden Japanese clubhouse, a driving range, two practice greens and a restaurant which overlooks Mount Fuji.  In addition, you will find a lovely hot spring and this is a great way to finish off a splendid round of golf at Nakaizu Green Club.

Course is quite forgiving and holes are not too long - good for high handicappers. Great views of Mt Fuji.
