Those playing golf in Japan for the first time or for returning golfers who want to play golf in an easily accessible location, Belleview Nagao Golf Club is a great choice.

If you are arriving for a Japan golf holiday from outside the country, you will find Tokyo is the easiest destination for flights.  It takes just over 90 minutes to reach Belleview Nagao Golf Club from Tokyo and it is located in Shizuoka Prefecture, which is home to the famous resort and tourist town of Hakone.

Even if you do not have your own transport, you can easily get to this region of Japan from Tokyo and enjoy a round of golf at Belleview Nagao Golf Club.

The golf course at Belleview Nagao Golf Club was designed by Kazuo Terasawa and opened for play in 1986.  This is not a long golf course and plays to just over 6,300 yards from the back tees.  You can also play from the regular tees, which are 5,800 yards.

Belleview Nagao Golf Club is an 18 hole, par-71 golf course and is famed most of all for the views.  This parkland course offers tremendous views of Mount Fuji and you will struggle to find a more spectacular sight from a golf course anywhere in the world.  Teeing off with a snow-capped Mount Fuji in the background is a thrill every golfer should experience at least once in their life.

As for the golf course itself, expect to be challenged by narrow, tree-lined fairways and changes in elevation.  The par-4, 5th hole is a good example and you face a tee shot towards a fairway which is sloping from left to right.  There are also trees on the left side and this presents an additional examination of the tee shot.

The par-5, 8th hole has an elevated tee and you must hit the ball between two sets of trees onto the fairway below.  Moving on to the back nine holes and the par-3, 17th hole is a good test of nerves.  There is no water to contend with at Belleview Nagao Golf Club but on the 17th you face a tee shot from an elevate tee, over a group of trees, to a green on the other side.

The fairway ahead of the green slopes off the right and there are two bunkers protecting the front-right, so you must be accurate or face the prospect of a difficult second shot.

In addition to the 18-hole golf course and fabulous views, Belleview Nagao Golf Club is home to a modern clubhouse, with locker rooms and a café.  There are showers but when in this region of Japan, you should treat yourself to a hot bath and you can obtain discount tickets to a natural hot spring from reception.

Belleview Nagao Golf Club is a special place to play golf thanks to the views of Mount Fuji and you will struggle to find a superior view anywhere in Japan.

Belleview Nagao Golf Club

Nice and challenging golf course

Reviewed by ; on
Course was OK with some nice views of Mount Fuji when the weather cleared. They seem to have a problem with wild boars as several of the fairways had been dug up. Greens were fast and in good condition.
