Golf holidays in Singapore

Singapore is one of the most wonderful places to visit on earth.  Whether as a golfer booking a golf holiday or simply a tourist looking for a special vacation, Singapore has everything you could wish for and more.

Singapore differs to many other golf package destinations in Asia because it is both a city state and island country.  You will find plenty of top quality golf courses in Singapore plus a mix of cultures, modern and colonial architecture plus thrilling theme parks and other attractions.

If you want to enjoy a special golf tour, you must include Singapore in your itinerary and it makes a great combination with Malaysia.  Continue reading to find out more about the city.

Singapore Golf Holidays - Geography and Travel

Singapore, known officially as the Republic of Singapore, is situated just 137 kilometres north of the equator.  It’s part of the Malay Peninsula, sitting on the southern tip, with the Riau Islands of Indonesia to the south and Malaysia to the north.

The Singapore territory consists of one main island and over 60 other islets.  The main island is called Pulau Ujong and there are two road connections which link it to Johor, Malaysia.  Singapore is not a mountainous place and the highest peak is Bukit Timah Hill, at 537 feet.

The largest of the other islands includes Jurong Island, Pulau Tekong, Pulau Ubin and Sentosa, the latter of which is home to some of the best theme parks and attractions in Singapore.  The city state is not covered in nature and most of the flora and fauna is kept in nature reserves along with several excellent gardens.

Travelling to Singapore for a golf holiday could not be easier.  In fact, Singapore is Southeast Asia’s largest aviation hub and that tells you everything you need to know.  Changi Airport is regarded as being the best airport in the world and there are direct services to Europe, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, North America and South Africa.

Singapore Golf Tours - Weather and Best Time to Travel

Singapore has a tropical rainforest climate and this means the temperature remains hot throughout the year.  Unlike many of the other Asian golfing destinations featured, Singapore does not have distinctive seasons throughout the year.

Temperatures can range between 22 and 35 degrees and heavy rainfall is a possibility at any time.  The golf courses and gardens are so beautiful thanks to the rainfall and while it can be heavy at times, you can enjoy plenty of time on the golf course between showers.  However, December and January are the months to avoid if you want to try and miss the most rain in Singapore.

Things to do away from the Golf Courses in Singapore

There is an abundance of things to do in Singapore when on a golf holiday.  You could spend weeks playing golf in Singapore and still not play every course and visit every attraction.

As mentioned above, if you want to enjoy some of the best shopping in the world, head to Orchard Road.  Here you will find all the top brands plus many bars and restaurants.

A trip to Marina Bay simply cannot be missed, especially at night when the fabulous architecture is lit up.  The science museum and casino are two of the most popular places in Marina Bay and it also makes a great place for a drink and something to eat.

Other great Singapore attractions you should visit during your golf package include Universal Studios, Gardens by the Bay, Night Safari, Raffles Hotel, Chinatown and Sentosa.  One thing is for sure, you will never be stuck for things to do away from the golf course in Singapore.
