Singapore golf courses

Sembawang Country Club was founded by British Marines in 1967 and one year later, the Prime Minister opened an official nine-hole golf course.  In 1977, the full 18-hole golf course was opened by Dr Goh Keng Swee and developments have been ongoing ever since, with a new golf course, inaugurated in 2013 and brand new facilities to match.

Sentosa Golf Club Tanjong Course is not a new golf course having opened for play in Singapore in 1995. However, it has had plenty of time to settle in and become established as one of the leading golf courses in this region of Asia.

Despite being in existence for over 20 years, Sentosa Golf Club Tanjong Course enjoyed a major renovation and redesign in 2016 which cost $35 million. The result is a spectacular golf course which provides tremendous views of metropolitan Singapore from the majority of the 18 holes. This makes it unique to Singapore in that respect. The high quality of the golf course is undeniable and is kept in pristine condition throughout the year.

There is a choice of 6 different tee positions on each hole and this makes the course suitable for most players.

The Serapong Course at Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore was originally opened in 1982 and was designed by non-other than Ronald Fream. Since then it has undergone a $ 12 million refurbishment under the watchful eye of Andrew Johnston who not only re-designed parts of the course but introduced the latest green technology maintenance. The course ranks with the best golf courses in Asia and is the annual host to the most prestigious tournament which is the Barclays Singapore Open.

Champions Golf Club in Singapore was originally called Green Fairways and offers 9-holes of quite challenging golf close to the heart of the city.  The course is under new management with improved tee boxes and greens and well-maintained fairways. This is a perfect solution if you want to tune up your game because in addition to the golf courses there is a 60-bay driving range and being a public courses you can just turn up and play and by Singapore standards it is very cheap.

It’s an ideal course for juniors to cut their teeth before venturing out on one of the more intimidating Singapore courses. For really young kids there is a 36-hole mini golf course and an excellent bar and restaurant.

Laguna National Golf & Country Club is one of the premier golf and country clubs in Asia with two championship golf courses - World Classic and Masters Course.  The Masters course is famous for having hosted the Singapore Masters which was part of the European Tour.  The club is nearing the end of a multi-million dollar renovation which will include the addition of a hotel with a spa plus driving range and fitness centre.

The World Classic Course at Laguna National Golf & Country Club is one of the most talked about golf courses in Asia.  By any measure it is the most difficult golf course in Asia and some would say impossible.  The stats are impressive (if that’s the rights word!).  It measures 7,350 yards from the back tees and with a slope rating of 162 and a course rating of 76.4 it is possible one of the most difficult courses ever rated anywhere in the world.

Marina Bay Golf Course in Singapore is located at the heart of the city, offering a unique combination of lush tropical gardens, stunning views of the Marina Bay skyline, and challenging fairways.  Billed as one of the best links courses in Asia the Marina Bay Golf Course in Singapore is a superb design by South African Phil Jacobs.  Measuring 6493 metres the par 72 course includes various design elements included to create a challenging and interesting golf course that can be enjoyed by many.  The facilities at Marina Bay are superb, and the driving range is one of the largest you will see in Asia, with four tiers and 150 bays that operate from 7 until 10.45 every day.

Orchid Country Club is a project which was brought to life by Mr Ong Teng Cheong, who wanted to provide a golf course and country club for the working people of Singapore.  The vision was to have three, nine-hole golf courses and over a period of 5 years, the three course were completed, in addition to the range of facilities on the site.

After a comprehensive makeover that lasted 18 months, the club which is located next to the Lower Seletar Reservoir re-opened in April and since then it has been earning great praise from both members and visitors who have played here.  It is not only the new layout that has attracted praise, but the refurbishment has placed great emphasis on the environment and long-term sustainability.

The bunkers have been redesigned, which are equipped to eliminate the common maintenance problems, the course creates many strategic options on how to approach each hole.

Seletar Country Club is a haven of tranquility and peace set right in the heart of the countryside (in the north of Singapore). It is strategically located on a hill with rolling acres of lush greenery, overlooking the Lower Seletar Reservoir and the Johor Straits. The course architect Chris Pitman created a challenging experience of playing. In 2000, the well-manicured was renoavetd, and touch ups made in 2004. Seletar has always been among Southeast Asia's most unique course designs. The 6,364 meter long track brings excitement to those who love to challenge trying to to make par on this course while allowing golfers plenty of space to enjoy their golf.

Unwind amidst tranquility at Tanah Merah Country Club's Garden Course, an 18-hole golfer's haven in Singapore. Designed with a focus on beauty and playability, this par 71 course offers a relaxed and enjoyable golfing experience for players of all skill levels.

Warren Golf & Country Club in Singapore has a long history and takes its name from the founder, the late Brigadier Derek Warren who served with the British Army. . The Club began life as a 4-hole golf course and the developed into a 9-hole course with a driving range.  The club has since moved out to Choa Chu Kang and offers an 18-hole championship golf course as well as many other recreational facilities.
