Golf holidays in Baguio

As golf destinations in the Philippines go, few can match Baguio City's intrinsic attraction. The climate is crisp and cool for most of the year at just under 5,700 feet above sea level; a god-send in an equatorial country. For the Cordilleras, the city has evolved into a college town and as such is a beehive of year-round activity. The Manor's Saturday dinner buffet is a blended bag. There's the grandfather of all of them— Baguio Country Club, or BCC, (mentioned elsewhere in this problem); the hill's present king, Club John Hay; and the block's fresh child, Pinewoods Golf Club. The mixed three give a excellent golf range.

Baguio Country Club provides an insight into the past of Philippine golf. BCC is a tee time that will be elusive to some, a club that values its privacy, but it's an experience worth the difficulty to get it. The pregame breakfast is quite a weekend activity, particularly during the Fil-Am. Perhaps the most nervous shot in golf is the opening tee shot. Picture a guest-filled veranda and dozens of you waiting to start their competitive rounds. Then the starter calls your name to the gathered masses, calling out your flight. For the uninitiated, it's sheer terror.

Camp John Hay is Baguio's golf destination. The Baguio experience set the gold standard for the golf course, clubhouse, manor and forest lodge. The lodgings are top-shelf, exquisite food, and sublime golf. At Augusta National, Camp John Hay sought their inspiration and worked long and hard to offer a golf experience in the nation above all else. The course is not a design of the championship, but it does not aspire to be. It's a very pleasant place to play and those greens that are carpeted with cool seasonal bent grass offer the greatest playing surface east of Augusta, Georgia.

Pinewoods Golf Club is Baguio's future golf destination. Pinewoods ' terrain is mild for a golf course in the hills; it looks like a lowland course and poses comparable difficulties. There are currently only nine holes to play, but that should change quickly. Work on the other nine in complete blast, and when it's finished, Baguio will have a trifecta of golf courses that are distinctly distinct from each other.
