Baguio golf courses

Cool weather is not often something which attracts golfers but, in the Philippines, cooler conditions on the golf course are welcome and Baguio has developed a reputation as a great place to play golf in the country.

Situated on the Philippines’ Luzon island, Baguio is a mountain town with universities and holiday resorts.  It is known locally as the ‘City of Pines’ due to the tropical pine forests in the region and this is just one of the many reasons people choose to visit Baguio.

Baguio is a former American hill station and was the United States' only hill station in Asia.  These days it is known for being the summer capital of the Philippines and a great place to visit for those interested in nature.

It’s not possible to reach Baguio by plane, even from Manila, so the best option is to arrive at Manila and take the bus.  The journey can last between 4 and 6 hours, so you may consider renting a car which will cut the journey time due to less frequent stops.

Thanks to the climate, Baguio has become a very popular place to play golf in the Philippines and Baguio Golf Country Club is arguably the pick of the golf courses.  This golf course is home to a five star resort, meaning you can stay and enjoy both the golf course and the facilities.

The 18-hole course is short by international standards, playing to just over 4,000 yards and there are no par 5 holes.  It certainly makes for a unique challenge and playing a round at Baguio Golf Country Club will live long in the memory.

Playing golf in Philippines does not mean staying in Manila and you should explore other regions of the country.  It is easy to travel between the cities in the mid and northern regions of Luzon Island.  You will find many direct flights between Manila Ninoy Aquino and Luzon Clark International, the gateway to Baguio City.

Once in Baguio City, you will be well placed to enjoy a round of golf at Camp John Hay Golf Club.  This golf club was named after former U.S. Secretary John Hay when it was established back in 1905.  The golf course has a long history and is one of the oldest in the country.
