Golf holidays in Kuala Lumpur

If you are considering a golf holiday to Kuala Lumpur but you are not sure what to expect, you may already be familiar with one sight, the Petronas Towers.  One of the most iconic buildings in the world, the Petronas Towers have been used several times in films and you are sure to have seen images on television and the internet.

However, there is much more to Kuala Lumpur than the Petronas Towers and you can expect a Kuala Lumpur golf package to be full of great golf courses, culture, landscapes and activities.

Kuala Lumpur Golf Holidays - Geography and Travel

Kuala Lumpur is the capital city of Malaysia and the biggest city in the country.  The city itself has an estimated population of 1.7 million people and the region surrounding the city, known as Greater Kuala Lumpur, has a population of 7.25 million people.

As one would expect from a capital city of this size, Kuala Lumpur is the financial, cultural and economic centre of Malaysia and home of the official parliament.

Situated in the Klang Valley, Kuala Lumpur is bordered by the Straight of Malacca on the west, the Titiwangsa Mountains in the east and some minor mountain ranges in the north and south.   Located at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers, Kuala Lumpur is translated to ‘Muddy Confluence’ in Malay, the main language spoken in Malaysia.

As Kuala Lumpur is such an important Asian city, transport links are very good and you will have little trouble including the Malaysian capital in a golf tour.  Kuala Lumpur International Airport is ranked as one of the world's top airports and you will find flights from all over the world.  It does not matter if you are travelling from Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East or North America, you will find a flight to Kuala Lumpur for a golf holiday.

Kuala Lumpur Golf Vacations - Weather and Best Time to Travel

Kuala Lumpur has a tropical rainforest climate, which means it is warm and sunny for much of the year but also enjoys plenty of rainfall to keep the golf courses in pristine condition.

The temperature remains constant throughout the year, so you will always find warm weather when booking a golf holiday in Kuala Lumpur.  The most rainfall is seen between the months of October and March, which is the northeast monsoon season.

The months of June, July and August see the lowest rainfall in Kuala Lumpur.  So,  if you want the best chance of avoiding the rain during your golf package, that’s the time to travel.

Kuala Lumpur Golf Tours - Things to do Away from the Golf Course

You will not struggle for things to do away from the golf course in Kuala Lumpur.  As highlighted above, no golf holiday to Kuala Lumpur can be complete without a visit to the Petronas Towers.  The two 88-storey chrome and steel towers are joined at the middle by a 58-metre-long, double-decker sky bridge which stands 175 metres above the ground.  Needless to say, it’s a breath-taking experience.

For a more relaxed vibe, head just outside the city to Batu Caves.  This 400 million-year old limestone hill has a 100-year-old temple carved inside.  You can climb the steps to get inside the caves and enjoy the marvellous views from outside.

For a colourful shopping experience like no other, Chinatown is considered a must-visit when enjoying a Kuala Lumpur golf package.  You will find everything from herb sellers to delicious hawker food and don’t forget you can bargain with the stall holders, its all part of the fun.
