If you would like to go somewhere different on your next golf holiday then why not try Vientiane, Laos' national capital is wonderful mixture of French-colonial architecture and Buddhist temples such as the 16th-century Pha That Luang, which is a national symbol. Along its wide boulevards and tree-lined streets are several other many notable shrines including Wat Si Saket, which features thousands of Buddha images, and Wat Si Muang.
Vientiane is still very sleepy and laid back when comparted to Thailand and still retains some of its French charm with plenty of renovated villa and French-inspired cuisine.
There are several good golf courses in Vientiane and we have chosen two of the best.
The highly rated Long Thanh Golf Course, is the first golf resort in Laos to boast 36 holes. The entire complex is set within a 1360-acre residential development. Eventually when the complex is complete the golf course will comprise of 4 loops of 9 which all wind their way back to the clubhouse giving the golfer a variety of choices.
One of the newest additions to the up and coming golf scene in Laos is the newly opened Lakeview Golf Club. Located some 15 minutes from the city centre of Vientiane the golf course boasts a very modern design. The resort style course was designed by Nelson & Howarth and measures 7153 yards from the back tees. With a par of 72 it is very much a course designed for today’s big hitters.
