Ibaraki Prefecture is home to a range of fantastic golf courses in Japan and a great example is Miho Golf Club. This is one of several golf courses in Japan which has been designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr and plays to Just over 7,000 yards from the back tee. However, there is a choice of four tee boxes on each hole, making Miho Golf Club playable for everyone.

The course is located near Kasumigaura, which is just over 2 hours away from central Tokyo and boasts the second largest Lake in Japan. The 18 hole, par-72 golf course winds its way through native oak and evergreen forests with a number of lakes present throughout the course. Water does not really come into play on the front 9 holes, mainly featuring on the 2nd hole but once into the back nine water becomes a serious hazard.

From the 14th through to the 17th hole at Miho Golf Club, two Lakes come into play, especially along the fairways of the 15th and 17th holes. The 17th hole features a dog leg right and it is tempting to try and cut across the water on the second shot to the green. The majority of greens at Miho Golf Club are open fronted and this allows for plenty of creativity when playing approach shots.

Away from the golf course and you will find a grass driving range, bunker practice area, pro shop, locker rooms, large public bath and restaurant serving local dishes.

Wonderful Golf Course

It is a fabulous golf course. The front nine is quite long and the inward nine more strategic but overall I found it quite difficult. The course is very well maintained and the service was faultless
