Some will shudder at the term “man-made links course” but New York’s Bayonne Golf Club showed us that this preposterous sleight-of-hand is doable. Now, Jakarta’s Sedayu Indo course is repeating the trick.

This Nicklaus Design creation adorns an island reclaimed from the Java Sea. To hold back the ocean, a dyke wall forms the island’s perimeter. This artificial feature is disguised with rough dunes and the architects extended that ‘links’ feel into the course itself.

Ranging between 7.132 and 4,794 yards, Sedayu Indo is actually a hybrid course. The links-style holes around the perimeter encircle a cluster of parkland-style holes situated on the island’s interior.

While nearby housing and the driving range have necessitated unsightly protective screens alongside a couple of holes, your surroundings are soon forgotten as you begin to immerse yourself in the faux- links terrain. With the sea and the owner’s insistence that housing and golf course be separated by water features for security purposes, there is barely a ‘dry’ hole out there but the architects insist they have built in sufficient space and run-off areas to ease the potential pain.

Try and avoid the deep St. Andrews-style bunker on the 3rd but enjoy the views of the course and the city beyond from the raised tees on the adjacent par 3s at 5 and 16. Both call for tee shots over a shared lake. The 12th is another of the course’s fine par 3s but this time sand is the menace; large bunkers circle an L-shaped green that offers numerous exciting pin-placement options.

Just a few miles from Jakarta’s airport, the club has an impressive bar lounge as well as The Brassey Restaurant. Spa facilities are available, and the pro’s shop is more like a superstore.

Sedayu Indo Golf

A true masterpiece with gorgeous views

Reviewed by ; on
We had a very pleasurable outing and a great round of golf at Sedayu Indo. It's a very well designed and scenic golf course. We were paired with two gentlemen from Malaysia and had a great round together. Course is well maintained with knowledgeable caddies. The clubhouse is nice with great amenities. There was a Marshal who ensured that pace of play was always maintained and nobody was inconvenienced. Just like at Royale Jakarta, everything is very streamlined where they hand over a card to you at the time of registration and anything you buy at the course can be settled at the time of departure after your round. Special thank you to Golfsavers for always making golf bookings so easy and stress free.

An excellent links-style course, not far from the airport

Reviewed by ; on
A brand-new golf course built on the reclaimed land in a new tourist area about 15 to 20 minutes from the airport. The course is in excellent condition with perfect fairways and greens that run true although a little slow. The only negative is that every hole is lined by rows and rows of villas and houses, which rather spoils the outlook of the course. Apart from that can highly recommend

Sedayu Indo Golf

Its a very nice course but not as good as expected

Reviewed by ; on
Sedayu Indo Golf is the newest golf course in the Jakarta Area in Links Course design. Located on a reclaimed island near PIK. The fairways, T-Boxes are in excellent condition and the greens are also good but a bit slow. The course is also not to difficult, but everyone need to be aware of the water. The clubhouse is new and excellent, including the restaurant and locker/shower rooms. Hopefully, they will maintain it in that way. Driving Range with double deck building. During the round, players may have a nice view of the sea.
