One of the many great things about Cengkareng Golf Club is the location and it is just 15 minutes from Jakarta International Airport, also called Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.  This means it does not matter if you are arriving or departing Jakarta, you can enjoy a round of golf shortly before you leave or just after you arrive.

Jakarta is the capital and largest city of Indonesia.  It is located on the northwest of the island of Java and is often the first port of call on an Indonesian golf holiday.  Whether you decide to head to Cengkareng Golf Club straight from the airport or after you have checked in to your accommodation, it is very east to reach.

Cengkareng Golf Club opened for play in 1999 and was designed by Walter Raleigh Stewart.  He has produced many top golf courses in Asia and the United States and this is another great course to add to the collection.  That fact both the 2005 and 2008 Indonesian Opens, which are part of the European PGA tour, were played at Cengkareng Golf Club further enhances the reputation of the golf course.

Despite hosting some major golf tournaments, the course at Cengkareng Golf Club is short by modern standards and plays to just 6,890 yards from the back tees.  However, that doesn’t mean the course is easy and when the wind picks up over Jakarta Bay, Cengkareng becomes a very tough course to master.

Walter Raleigh Stewart has created large mounds on what was once flat ground and the fairways play up and down over these mounds regularly throughout the round.  This can lead to several blind approach shots to the green so ball placement on the fairway is key if you want to have a good angle of attack to the putting surface,

Many of the fairways are bowl shaped and that means balls tend to gather towards the middle of the fairway.  This is good news because there are many mature trees and jungle just waiting to gobble up anything which is wayward off the tee.

Water comes into play on some holes and the par-4 4th hole is a great example.  This is the signature hole at Cengkareng Golf Club and requires a shot over a lagoon onto a peninsula green.  The green is narrow, with a central ridge and if the wind picks up, this becomes a very difficult hole to master.

The clubhouse at Cengkareng Golf Club features male and female locker rooms, pro shop and the Golfer’s Grill which offers a choice of local and international dishes.  The terrace is a nice place to relax after round and has lovely views of the golf course below.

Cengkareng Golf Club is the perfect place to begin or end a golf holiday in Indonesia.

Cengkareng Golf Club

Great Course Close to the Airport

A great course very close to the airport. Greens are a bit flat but the service from the caddies and in the clubhouse was faultless. An ideal course to play for your first or last round in Jakarta.
