Although Pattaya has a slightly “seedy” reputation it has the best selection of golf courses to be found anywhere in Thailand and is a great place for a golf holiday in Thailand.
It’s also very accessible and from Suvarnabhumi Airport it takes less than 1.5 hours to reach the resort along the fast 6-lane highway. If you want to amend the itinerary and play golf on the way to Pattaya then this is very easy as there are several excellent golf courses just off the highway.
Most of the “noisy” nightlife is at the South end of the beach, close to “Walking Street” but we recommend that you stay at the North end which is much quieter and if you want to enjoy the nightlife then it’s a very cheap and easy shuttle bus ride to the other end of the beach.
We have chosen some superb golf courses on this trip but if we have not included your favourite then please ask as the itinerary is totally flexible. Burapha Golf Club is an old favourite – the clubhouse is slightly run down but the courses are always in excellent condition. Laem Chabang is a classic Jack Nicklaus design with well-protected greens and plenty of bunkering. The two Siam Country Club courses are superb and each present very a different challenge. The greens at Plantation are surrounded by run-off areas which makes chipping very challenging and the Old course has plenty of well-placed bunkers which need to be avoided if you want to score well.
On returning to Bangkok you will play Thai Country Club which is probably the best run club in Thailand with superb service on the courses and in the clubhouse – like a 5-star hotel. Our final round is at the very popular Summit Windmill which is also very close to the airport for your departure home.
