Kalaw was originally used as a hill station by British civil servants who wanted to escape the heat of Rangoon. At a height of 1,320 metres, the climate remains one of the main attractions of Kalaw as the air is nice and cool. The town still retains some of its colonial-era architecture with tree-lined streets.
There are plenty of lovely walks in the surrounding hills and it’s a great novelty to wrap yourself in a blanket at night.
