Kanagawa is a Japanese prefecture on the largest of the four main islands, Honshu. A coastal prefecture, Kanagawa is situated to the south of Tokyo in the Kano region of the country and the capital city is Yokohama.
Interestingly, Yokohama is on the east side of Kanagawa and within easy reach of Tokyo and it takes under an hour to drive between the two cities. It is also possible to catch the train and Tokyo makes a good starting point for golf holidays in Kanagawa.
Being part of the greater Tokyo area, there are some fantastic things to see away from the golf course and many of them can be done with a day trip from either Yokohama or Tokyo.
The Hakone area is very popular with visitors and it is possible to enjoy a great circuit around the area which includes walking, a cable car ride and boat trip, not to mention some cracking views of Mount Fuji.
To experience a small city full of treasures, head to Kamakura which is a coastal town and once the political centre of Japan. There are several temples, shrines and historical monuments to visit and the sand beaches are a big draw if you visit Kanagawa to play golf during the summer months.
There are four main golf courses to choose from in Kanagawa and they include Daihakone Country Club, Fugiya Hotel Sengaku Golf Course, Hakone-en Golf Course and Hakone Yunohana Golf Course. There is more than enough to enjoy, on and off the course, to make Kanagawa a great base for a Japan golf holiday.
