Adelaide is the capital city of the South of Australia and can be found between Perth and Melbourne on the south coast of the country.

It is the fifth most populous city in Australia and is located on the Adelaide Plains between the Gulf of St Vincent and the Mount Lofty Ranges.  The city itself stretches from the coast some 20 kilometres inland to the foothills.

Adelaide International Airport is close to the city centre and accepts flights from New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai and Doha.  Therefore, while there are no direct flights from European or North American countries, there is the opportunity for a stop-over to play golf in one of the destinations mentioned above.

A short distance from the city centre is the North Adelaide Golf Course which is a pretty public course in the Norther Parklands area and if perfect for those who don’t want to travel too far.  

Most of the more famous golf courses in Adelaide are located along the coast about twenty minutes from the city and these include Royal Adelaide, Kooyonga, Grange and Glenelg.

The Royal Adelaide Golf Club is one of only six Australian golf courses featuring in the World’s Top 100 courses and and has played host to numerous international tournaments.

Kooyonga Golf Club is another championship golf course which has hosted several Opens.

Glenelg is another famous sand belt courses which is renowned for the huge number of bunkers.

The Adelaide Hills region which is Just 20 minutes away from the city alos offer some great golfing option.  These include Mount Osmond Golf Club which has wonderful views over the city, the distant Lofty Range and towards the coast.

Mount Lofty Golf Club is set in a beautiful wooded valley and Blackwood Golf Club is perfect for those seeking a slightly gentler course.

Mt Barker-Hahndorf Golf Club is lined with gum trees and has plenty of water hazards to test your game.
